Deepika Padukone, currently expecting her first child, is known to follow a sustainable diet, as revealed by her former nutritionist Shweta Shah. Addressing misconceptions about her dietary habits, the Kalki 2898 AD actor shared her perspective on Instagram.
“Surprised to see this on my feed? Well, I eat! And I eat well! Ask anyone who knows me. So don’t believe anything else you might hear or read,” wrote Deepika Padukone. She emphasized the importance of balance, consistency, and listening to one’s body.
Padukone also clarified the meaning of ‘diet’, noting, “We often believe that ‘diet’ means to starve or restrict oneself. What ‘diet’ really means is the total of all the food and drink consumed by an individual. The word comes from the Greek word ‘diaita,’ which means ‘way of life’.”
“I’ve always followed a balanced diet as long as I can remember—it’s truly a way of life for me. I’ve never adhered to unsustainable or trendy diets. Now, do I indulge? As shown above! But indulgence certainly isn’t my daily routine,” she captioned a montage of dessert pictures.
“Ever heard the phrase ‘you are what you eat?’ If there’s one thing I’ve learned (through some challenges), it’s that those words are incredibly true,” she added, hinting at some of the challenges she may have faced along the way.
Meanwhile, drawing insights from her dietary regimen, we uncover the significance of a balanced diet.
Emphasizing the value of consuming macronutrients, Shruti K Bhardwaj, chief dietician at Zydus Hospital, Ahmedabad, highlighted that adequate intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins is key to maintaining a comprehensive diet.
“Each macronutrient serves a vital role in supporting different bodily functions. Protein is crucial for muscle repair and growth, fats contribute to hormone regulation and cellular integrity, while carbohydrates supply energy for daily activities and exercise,” explained Bhardwaj.
Highlighting the importance of not adhering to restrictive diets, she emphasized that individuals can enjoy a wide range of foods while still fulfilling their nutritional requirements.
“This flexibility can enhance the sustainability and enjoyment of dietary habits,” she added.
However, everyone’s nutritional needs vary based on factors such as age, weight, activity level, and personal goals.
“Personalized nutrition plans that cater to individual requirements ensure the best outcomes,” shared Bhardwaj.
The key takeaway from the above discussion is that a balanced diet, incorporating adequate amounts of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, supports overall health by fulfilling essential bodily functions. Instead of restrictive eating patterns, enjoying various foods tailored to individual nutritional needs promotes sustainability and enjoyment in maintaining a healthy diet. Personalized nutrition plans are crucial for optimizing health outcomes, considering factors like age, weight, activity level, and personal goals.
